New Art/Comic Swap Meet show being planned for April

We are planning a new show for the croatian hall around mid April/ early may at the moment. It will have tables available for artists and sellers with collectibles (such as comic books, records, clothing, toys etc...) We plan to have about 26 to 28 table spaces available. For space or info email Scott at: aichertime@sbcglobal.net. We may get Bombon to play as we open the doors on the show. Admission is 5 dollars and the first 50 people get some nice free swag too... Tell some friends. All ages welcome. Sorry, no alcohol permitted. We plan to have food/beverage vendors too...

We have morphed into "Creative Collective"

Hello from my home studio... All art from the Rock and Roll art show is still here and for sale... We just got bigger, and expanded into San Pedro's Creative Collective! Why? Because the R&R Art Show went so well I was asked to plan more shows! The Croatian Cultural Center will be the place for many more events brought to you by Planetsixtyseven.com and San Pedro's Creative Collective. I am planning to have an Indie Mini Comic Con... Man, do I love this town! Thank you town of San Pedro and all the great kids here... The Rock and Roll art show went down with everyone in town pitching in and helping out and with no violence what so ever. We posted a few rules and they were respected, so it looks good for having more all ages shows at the venue! I got to thank my MVP once again, it goes to Craig Ibarra who showed me how to make this show work, and did huge amounts of work for this show Thank You Crankie! All the artist pitched in before and after the show... Thank You Artists! Victor helped me lug my crud around, thanks Victor! Thanks Dirk, Jenny, Mike Brady, big big thanks to Calimucho! for their help and live screenprinting. Kid Kevin made the all stars with all his help (literally put his back into it!) Thank You Kevin! Thank you Maya from the Cultural Center for allowing us to have the show. Thanks END FWY for the p.a. and more! Let's hear it for Bombon, Hippy Riot!, and Toys that Kill. I got chills watching these bands. They are so good! Bombon is so much fun. They were the first band I wanted for this show. I saw Hippy Riot! at tri arts before this show and they are great! Kind of hardcore with a rocka hillbilly beat, very cool band. I did not think I could get Toys that Kill, but my MVP got them. They are as good as any great band I have ever seen, and always get my ass shaking. Everyone did this show FREE! and I thank you all for that too.

Almost forgot! Thanks to my beautiful wife Sharon for getting me ready for this show. Thanks to my dogs Chet and Coco who missed me as I was working on this show the last few days. When the show was done they gave me lots of kisses when I got home. Thanks to those who bought my shirts too! We had Subway after the show with lots of cucumber and peppers.

I'm going to spend most of the day posting all the band footage and artwork on this blog page. I really do love this town... everyone had kind words and gave praise for the show... All artists in the show should bring down their art to the Croatian Cultural Center on 7th Street and Pacific in Pedro ready to hang with a list of Titles and Prices (if you want to sell your art, if not just put NFS). I think I have contacted most of you already. I tried getting some cool roach coaches to stop by the gig. We may get a cool bakery truck there! Mmmmm! Let's hope they show! Calimucho will be screening shirts for sure... I may have my new comic book for sale there too. Thanks and very much love to all who spread the word on this show. Calimucho are bringing the silk screening machine down to the Rock and Roll Art Show, so if you want them to print a shirt for you bring a blank shirt. In addition to silkscreening my shirts and for the local businesses in town they have a recording studio and operate the record label 45 rpm records. They have a big house they live in off mesa, and most everyone there is in bands or is part of the pedro punk community. They are dependable guys and offer a fair price for their work. Down a few blocks from the Coatian Cultural Center is my favorite shop in town Guitar Safari. This place has hidden treasure all over besides the best and most original vintage guitars and gear you are going to find for miles. Great repair as well. Here's a clip I shot there this saturday when I picked up my new used Telecaster....

About the artists showing on the 25th...

Victor Gastelum has been creating his spray paint stencil multiples since 1988, and showing them since 1992. The multiples are usually limited to 10 pieces, and because of the spray paint technique, no two prints are alike. Most of the stencils are sprayed on aluminum, heavy drawing paper or heavy holographic card stock.
Gastelum’s art has been published in numerous books and magazines including F*cked Up + Photocopied, Ciudad Hibrida/Hybrid City and The New York Times Magazine. Victor Gastelum has also collaborated with his long-time friends, Tucson-based band Calexico, creating art for many of their albums. In addition Victor has collaborated with other artists such as Chaz Bojorquez, Raymond Pettibon and Rolo. He has been published by Hamilton Press (Venice, CA) in the form of a collaborative lithograph and an art book cover and by Self-Help Graphics (Los Angeles, CA) in the forms of serigraphs as well as monoprints. of their albums.
Victor Gastelum is a native Californian and lives with his wife Ivy and kids Ariana and Adrian in Long Beach, California.

Victor and Craig ran the art department of SST Records way back when I met the 2 of them. Victor is a trusted friend of mine (as well as Craig...) When I first decided to get back into painting I was worried about what to paint. He told me. "Paint what you know... ". He is a big inspiration to me, and a great friend.)

Chris Carle
Chris Carle was born sometime in 1973 in Orange County, California amongst the palm trees, manicured lawns and cinder block walls. As a child he was fascinated with art and music. He was always exposed to art as a young boy thru his grandfather, Don Tobin, cartoonist/Disney animator and his uncle, Pat Tobin, legendary soul surfer and painter. Another driving force in his life was punk rock where he soon found himself as one of the vocalists of Resist & Exist. He then blossomed out of the punk movement like a bellowing cloud of smoke that lingered across the landscape as if our corporate infrastructure collapsed. Later experimenting with performances under the alias Squelch where he crashed numerous shows and imprinted his grotesque demeanor amongst the audience which led him to a BFA at Cal-Arts. He has opened for acts such as Sublime, The Skeletons and Souls of Mischief. He was also Roadie Bob Slayer of the infamous Four Letter Words, one of his brother’s (Kevin Carle) earlier bands. Whether his artwork is performing, painting or illustrating it is very detailed and reflects the sentiments of punk, graffiti and urban life. Currently, Chris lives with his wife and 2 kids in Orange County where he freelances as Ghastly Kustoms and has done work for Vans, H+R and numerous local bands. Born in Croatia in 1969, raised in San Pedro, CA. Skateboarder, friend, enemy, artist, 2nd place winner at Cut and Paste L.A., grumpy, wacom tablet user... uncle of Ethan the bass playing prodigy of Flea, still buys records and DJ's sometimes, can play drums, short stint in living in Hong Kong, been to the Forbidden City in China, has a cat named Lazer that likes to climb trees.

Scott Aicher A member of the San Pedro Art Association. Scott has been making his art and showing at shows around the south bay staring at age 5 when his mom entered him in the yearly painting shows in Manhattan Beach. He won 3 blue ribbons and was told he won some cash as well. They gave him a check which he brought to his mom and said "Don't I get money?" (He did not understand what a check was...) He lives in San Pedro with his beloved wife Sharon and 2 dogs "Chet" and "Coco". He collects vintage "Redline" hotwheels, comics, gum cards, art books, guitars and toys. His favorite drink is Diet Coke with Splenda and has a hard time picking a favorite color but has a few favorite pallet color schemes. For his website click HERE

TriArts show in down town Pedro promoting the 25th

Here's me at my booth at the TriArts fest in downtown Pedro on saturday...I should have stayed longer, but the heat go to me, and I did not want a ticket or to get my car towed (I parked in 1 hour parking) not to worry, no ticket, but the heat kicked my ass so I went home to sleep. Bummer to miss Watt and the secondmen but I had fun. Many thanks to Danny and Craig for my booth space and all the Pedro heads that stopped by and said hello... I will see you all on the 25th!
